April Photography Adventure

It’s time to check out a little gem of a park, hidden in plain sight, for our next Adventure! There is evidence the area was occupied as early as 4200 years ago. Originally, the area was known as Mukwuks by the Lekwungen First Nation, and at one point it was used as a salmon reef net fishing station. By From 1788 to 1956, Fort Macaulay, as it became known, was the original Victoria-Esquimalt costal defence station, and remnants of the fort are still present to this day, in our destination of Macaulay Point Park.

We will be meeting at 9:30 AM, 22 April 2023, in the (free) parking lot at Fleming Beach, which is adjacent to the park. Afterwards (around 12:30 – 1:00 PM) we can grab a coffee and light snack at the nearby Serious Coffee, in the Esquimalt Plaza.

There should be some good opportunities to practice Black & White photography (which will be our April challenge), and maybe some of our members will want to pose for you, so you can also practice your outdoor Portrait skills. See you there!
